Arsenal fans believe that Folarin Balogun will be heading out on loan in January after Mikel Arteta’s comments to the Metro about him last night.
A temporary departure?
Balogun started in Arsenal’s first Premier League game of the season, but he has only featured twice since.
The young striker was not even picked for the Gunners against Leeds United in the League Cup night.
Arteta’s comments after the game certainly didn’t suggest that Balogun leaving on a temporary basis was out of the question.
He said: “We will see what happens. Again, with Flo we have a really clear project. The steps that he’s making, they are the right steps.
“Don’t forget he is really young, he hasn’t played almost any professional football, and you need to go through every phase – and don’t try to jump phases when you are not ready to do so.
“Again I’m really happy with him, he’s making the right progress and in December we will see where we are and what’s the best for him as well.”
Arsenal fans now feel that Balogun may need to get out on loan to aid his development.
And many are predicting that the Gunners prospect will be heading off in January.
Loan spell pending?
Arsenal fought hard to get Balogun to sign a new contract, so they obviously have high hopes for the 20-year-old.
He has scored prolifically at youth level, but is yet to really show his talents in senior football.
A loan could, therefore, benefit him – as it would be expected that he would feature regularly at Championship level.
Arsenal have sent the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Eddie Nketiah out on loan spells in recent years, and they both seem to have benefitted from moves away.
