Martin Keown gave his take on the future of Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose on talkSPORT (12:25pm, October 9, 2020).
The Arsenal legend believes that Tottenham could decide to terminate Rose’s contract by mutual consent, like West Ham United did with Jack Wilshere this week.
As reported by The Daily Mail, the Hammers decided to get the England international’s £100,000-a-week salary off their books and agreed to pay the former Arsenal midfielder most of the outstanding money as a settlement.
Keown said about Rose on talkSPORT (12:25pm, October 9, 2020): “He is someone who wants to play, so yeah, I think it is only a matter of time before Danny moves on. He is somebody that wants to play football, isn’t he?
“He did stand up to Mourinho, didn’t he, if you look at some of that Amazon stuff? Mourinho’s story now is a good one. They are actually turning things around, and he is getting further away from the first team.”
Leaving Tottenham Hotspur
Rose has been on the books of Tottenham since 2007, and not so long ago, he was one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
However, the former Leeds United prospect has not been given a shirt number and has also been left out of Spurs’ Europa League squad, as reported by The Telegraph.
It seems that Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho does not have the 30-year-old in his plans, and with his contact running out at the end of the season, one should not be surprised if the club and the player come to an agreement to cancel his deal.
