Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on the prospect of Kylian Mbappe moving this summer, amid reports he wants to join Liverpool.
The Reds are big admirers of the Frenchman, and he’s been linked with a move to Anfield for quite some time now.
It looked as though a summer move could be on the cards. After all, Mbappe is entering the final year of his deal and Liverpool is reportedly his first-choice destination.
However, after the collapse of the Super League, Romano believes that any move for Mbappe will be very complicated as clubs were banking on a hefty cash injection.
“The feeling after the Super League week is that the big clubs who were planning to get a lot of money and planning for big moves, like for Mbappe, without this money and without a Super League, it’s getting complicated. Konate is an opportunity, so expect the market to be a lot of opportunities and release clauses. This type of thing like with Konate, but enormous transfers for big stars will now be complicated,” Romano said.

It seems as though Mbappe may not be on the move this summer.
This has been a bizarre storm in terms of football finances. The pandemic has seen almost every club post losses this year, while the collapse of the Super League has taken away another potential revenue stream.
Liverpool of course have a number of sellable assets that could see them raise the money to sign Mbappe, but as Romano says, it’s getting complicated right now.
