Simon Stone has taken to Twitter to share an update on West Brom and their hunt for a new manager, following the sacking of Steve Bruce.
West Brom manager update
Well, the BBC Sport journalist believes Wolves are “getting closer” to making an appointment as they narrow down their options.
The Mirror believe Ron Gourlay – Chief Executive Officer at the Hawthorns – has shortlisted Carlos Corberan as a potential option, while the Northern Echo claimed that Michael Carrick is another option.
Furthermore, Steven Schumacher is also a target after guiding Plymouth Argyle to the top of League One – that is according to The Sun.
Stone does not mention any names, although he states that the Baggies have already held several interviews today, and are getting close to making a decision.
You can see his tweet in full below.
Sean Dyche is another name being floated around in the media, although the Mirror believe he is holding out for a Premier League job – he has been out of work since Burnley sacked him in April.
As things stand, the managerless Baggies sit 20th in the Championship with 14 points from 15 games.
West Brom must get manager selection right
As we saw with Watford in the Premier League last season, when the Hornets hired three different managers in one campaign before suffering relegation, those in the boardroom can’t afford to make the wrong choices.
It pretty much goes without saying, but with West Brom languishing just above League One, Gourlay simply must find the right man to replace Bruce.

If whoever arrives at the Hawthorns cannot turn things around, then there is a very real chance that the Baggies will drop into League One, which would be catastrophic for a club of their stature.
Keep an eye on this situation, as Gourlay looks set to make a decision imminently.
