Some Arsenal fans are reacting to footage of William Saliba on Twitter tonight.
Arsenal loaned the 20-year-old powerhouse to Marseille in Ligue 1 this past summer.
And for the most part, Saliba has looked a class act back in his homeland.
But the Gunners’ centre-back had a bit of an off-day this afternoon as Lille secured a 2-0 home win.
Saliba could and probably should’ve done a little better in preventing the first goal, with the Arsenal loanee failing to cut out the original cross as Jonathan David ultimately scrambled the ball home.
Here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted to that goal:
Does Saliba have an Arsenal future?
Most fans of the Emirates Stadium club are desperate to see him – literally.
Since joining in a £27 million deal two years ago, Saliba hasn’t kicked a ball in a competitive game for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta clearly isn’t completely sold on the player yet, by virtue of the fact that this is his second loan since the Spaniard took the reins in North London.
But crucially, Marseille don’t have the option to sign him outright next summer – and they do with Matteo Guendouzi, his Arsenal teammate.
That right there might suggest Arteta isn’t committed to killing the club’s investment entirely and will keep an open mind, whereas Guendouzi seems to have burned his bridges for good.
