Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has told the Liverpool Echo that his knee injury is improving.
Henderson has not played since Liverpool’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month, and will miss out on featuring against Chelsea later this evening.
There are fears around Anfield that the England international could miss the start of next season, such is the severity of his issue.
However, Henderson insists that he is making good progress with his recovery.
“The knee is getting better,” Henderson said.
“Rehab has been going OK so far and there is still a little while to go, but yes, it is getting stronger all the time.”
Liverpool’s form has taken a turn for the worse since Henderson’s injury, although whether that is down to his absence, or simply a slight dip in focus is up for debate.

However, his return will be a major boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Henderson’s tenaciousness and leadership qualities are so vital to Liverpool that he is one of the first names on the team sheet when he is fit.
Henderson will still have reason to be excited tonight, as Liverpool will be lifting the Premier League trophy for the first time, with the 30-year-old set to be at the front and centre of the celebrations.
