Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrice Muamba has named Aaron Ramsdale in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.
We’ve finally reached the World Cup break, and Arsenal are sitting pretty at the very top of the Premier League table, and they owe plenty to their goalkeeper.
Indeed, Ramsdale has been one of the Gunners’ most consistent performers this season, and Muamba reckons he’s been the best glovesman in England this year, making the case for the former Sheffield United man to be England’s number one.
Muamba lauds Ramsdale
The pundit spoke very highly of the Arsenal ace
“In goal I’m going to go for Aaron Ramsdale. Aaron has been exceptional for Arsenal. He’s made some brilliant saves. He’s gained more and more confidence as he’s gone on,” Muamba said.
“Will Aaron start for England? I feel Gareth will go for Pickford, but for me I feel Ramsdale deserves the opportunity to be number one. It’s only fair to make the guy who is on top of the league to be the number one goalkeeper.
“He’s done very well for me and he’s shown so much improvement from Bournemouth to Arsenal, he’s improved his confidence and he’s getting better every single season. Some of the saves he’s made this season have been incredible.”
England’s number one
Muamba is absolutely right about Ramsdale, he’s more than earned his chance to be England’s number one.
How can you justify picking a goalkeeper in a relegation battle over a goalkeeper who is currently challenging for a title?
Yes, Pickford has done a stellar job for England in the past, but if you’re picking on form, Ramsdale is your man.
Southgate will probably choose Pickford in Qatar, but he surely won’t be able to overlook Ramsdale for too much longer.
