Chris Sutton has made it clear on BBC Radio 5 Live that Celtic are a ‘much bigger’ club than Manchester City.
The question was asked by Robbie Savage as to whether the English side or the current Scottish Premiership champions are bigger.
Every time Sutton was arguing the point that Celtic are bigger than Man City, his co-presenter, Savage, was seemingly left surprised.
But the former Celtic man shut him down and highlighted one trophy as proof for his argument.
“Haha, there you said it [Celtic are historically bigger], let’s move on,” said Sutton. “Come on!? Who has got the star on the jersey [to indicate you have won the European Cup]?
“Celtic is much bigger, of course, it is. We have had this argument about Celtic and Leicester. It’s true [Celtic are bigger]. Get your head around it!
“They are a bigger club, Rob [Robbie Savage]. Come on! Man City might have the money but Celtic have the history. Celtic have the European Cup.”

In truth, this argument wouldn’t have taken place 15 years ago because Man City weren’t even considered a big club back then.
Whilst they have worked their way to numerous Premier League titles, League Cups and FA Cups, they have done it through very wealthy owners.
Celtic are a natural big club and they will always have that status. Whilst they don’t get the respect that they deserve because of how Scottish football is perceived, they still have that European Cup.
