West Ham United legend Trevor Sinclair is backing David Moyes’ pursuit of Spartak Moscow midfielder Alex Kral, speaking to talkSPORT (26 May, 12.50pm).
If Kral’s social media activity is anything to go by, the poodle-haired Czech Republic international can’t wait to join compatriots Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek at the London Stadium.
The Slovakia-born 23-year-old has been on a ‘liking’ spree, making it clear, in a very modern way, he would be open to the idea of joining a club he’s been linked with on and off for more than a year.
Coufal himself revealed before Christmas that West Ham bosses had “asked about (Kral) – his character and things like that”.
And, obviously impressed by what they’ve seen from a hard-running 23-year-old, Sky Sports claims talks are now under way regarding a deal that would see the Moscow-based enforcer join an already impressive Hammers squad for about £14 million.
Kral could join Czech mates at West Ham
Sinclair believes a talented, up-and-coming ball-winner like Kral could be an inspired addition too, after West Ham’s lack of midfield depth was exposed by Declan Rice’s injury-enforced absence in the spring.
“The recruitment (at West Ham) has been great,” Sinclair says.
“But there’s a few key issues (that need sorting out). When Declan Rice was injured, I think they lost a lot of points so they’re looking at another Czech Republic boy – Alex Kral – and why not because the lads they’ve got in have been superb.
“I think if they can get someone in there and recruit, why wouldn’t David Gold and David Sullivan back (Moyes) because their recruitment has been so good.
“Get this boy in, Alex Kral, maybe another striker – and we’re not talking massive dough here. If they do that, why couldn’t they do at least what they’ve done this season? Get top six and maybe supersede that.”
Kral, who caught the eye as Czech Republic stunned England in October 2019, is renowned for his fine passing range and tough-tackling style.
He even produced five assists from a defensively minded role for Spartak Moscow in 2020/21.
