Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to make one more demand to Amanda Staveley, after the Sports Direct signs were removed from St James’ Park.

What’s the story?

Well, the Toon Army were delighted to see Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct advertisements removed from their beloved stadium.

Unfortunately, some areas will still need a lick of paint to cover it up for good, as the Sports Direct logo has stained the east stand.

However, that isn’t what the Newcastle fans are complaining about.

A number of supporters have asked Staveley to bring back the old lettering on the east stand’s Newcastle United sign, instead of Ashley’s italicised version.

Back in 2011, Ashley changed the style of the sign in order for it to align better with the Sports Direct signage flanking it.

In doing so, he made it look much tackier.

Newcastle are finally free from Sports Direct

It would be nice to have the old lettering back on the east stand, although the main thing is that the Sports Direct signage is gone for good.

The only question is why it took Staveley so long to remove!

The 48-year-old admitted to The Times that she absolutely hated the Sports Direct signs, so it’s great to see everything finally stripped.

Now, once the east stand has been given a new coat of paint to cover up the stain, Newcastle fans will feel like they’ve got a bit of their club back.

After so many years of hurt, the Toon Army are finally starting to feel at one with the Magpies again.

For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying…
