Perry Groves told Transfer Talk on Sky Sports (05/01/21 at 1:30 pm) that Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis and Mesut Ozil need to be sold this month.
The former Arsenal man thinks it will allow the North London club to ‘free up some funds’ to buy some much-needed creativity, such as Julian Brandt.
Both Sokratis and Ozil were left out of Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad in the summer, and it doesn’t seem that decision will be reversed, whilst Mustafi has featured sporadically.
Nonetheless, Groves shared the three things that Arteta needs to do this month as Arsenal aim to surge up the table.
“The three things that Mikel Arteta needs to do in the January transfer window is one add a little bit of creativity,” said Groves.
“I think Julian Brandt from Dortmund has been mentioned.
“Then two get rid of the deadwood. The likes of Mustafi, Sokratis and Ozil. That will maybe free up some funds to get some players in.
“And three, he has to keep faith with the younger players. They have come in and they have given the team some heart, desire, some passion.”

In truth, a lot of Arsenal supporters would agree that the above three players need to be sold.
Ozil has, of course, been a talking point for supporters since Arteta decided to axe him.
But ever since they have picked up three wins from three, he hasn’t been mentioned, as he clearly needs to be taken off the wage bill, so new faces can be brought in.
