Celtic legend David Provan has hit out at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in The Scottish Sun for “still moaning” about the Ibrox Covid 5.

The former Celtic star believes that Rangers should accept the punishment that was handed to the five Ibrox players who broke coronavirus rules earlier this year.

As announced on Rangers’ official website, Nathan Patterson, Bongani Zungu, Calvin Bassey, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear all have had their bans upheld.

As reported by BBC Sport, the five Rangers players were all charged after attending an illegal house party back in February.

Rangers appealed against the ban, and following it being upheld, they have said that they “remain disappointed in the result”, and Provan believes that the Scottish Premiership champions need to move on.

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Rangers should recognise a result when they get one. Despite breaking Covid rules the, ‘Rangers Five’ got off lightly with two of a six-game ban suspended.

“Better still, Gers milked the useless SFA disciplinary system to have Nathan Patterson available for the Old Firm game.

“Despite Steven Gerrard saying at the time he felt ‘personally let down’ by his players, the Ibrox club are still moaning about the suspensions. Get over it.”

Moving on

While Rangers may be disappointed in the SFA’s decision, there is nothing that they can do now expect accept it.

The Gers should simply move on and focus their attention on the pitch. There is no point in going over it.

Rangers are in action this evening when they take on St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup.
