If rumours are believed, Arsenal could very well wind up signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang down to a new contract.
The former Borussia Dortmund hitman is heavily linked with a move away this summer.
Aubameyang, who turned 31 last month, only has a year left on his contract in North London, prompting speculation about his future.
But according to ESPN, the Gabon international, who has 51 Premier League goals for Arsenal in only 79 games, has told the club that he wants a £250,000-a-week deal over three years.
That’s only an extra £50,000 on what he currently earns per week and it seems feasible for the Gunners.
Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to that rumour on Twitter:
This is turning out to be a brilliant week for the club.
They signed Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli up to new contracts, two of their biggest young talents, and now there’s genuine optimism that Aubameyang could sign a new deal.
Raul Sanllehi and Edu have come in for criticism over the past month or so, exacerbated by the decision sign David Luiz up to a new deal despite his defensive errors, but confirmed extensions of Saka, Martinelli and Aubameyang would make up for it.
