Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to hammer Gary Lineker after he described Aymeric Laporte’s red card as a ‘harsh’ decision.
What’s the story?
Well, the Eagles recorded a phenomenal 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, largely thanks to Laporte’s dismissal.
The Spain international allowed Wilfried Zaha to turn him in the 46th minute, before hauling down the Ivorian as he was through on goal.
It was pretty much a textbook red card – how Lineker can see it as ‘harsh’ is beyond us.
Tellingly, Andre Marriner had no hesitation in giving Laporte his marching orders.
You can see Lineker’s tweet in full below.
It was a pivotal moment in the game, and Marriner got it spot on, without needing to check VAR to make up his mind.
Crystal Palace win over Manchester City was coming

Anybody who has watched Patrick Vieira’s side so far this season will tell you that they should be much higher in the Premier League.
Crushing late goals conceded to Brighton and Arsenal while leading the game have seen Crystal Palace throw away four points.
They have been playing some excellent stuff, but have also been extremely wasteful in front of goal.

Before today’s incredible result, the south Londoners were also hard done by in the 1-1 draw to Newcastle, as Christian Benteke had a late winner disallowed for a foul by Marc Guéhi.
This has been coming for the Eagles, and they thoroughly deserved the win.
For now, let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying about Lineker’s remark on Laporte…
