Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter in jubilation after it was announced that John McGinn had signed a new contract at Villa Park.
The Scotland international has put pen to paper on a new five-year contract in the Midlands, taking his time at the club until the summer of 2025, at least.
McGinn has become a vital player for Dean Smith since arriving from Hibernian in the summer of 2018.
The 26-year-old helped the Villans out of the Championship by scoring the winning goal in the Play-Off final victory over Derby.
Since then, he has kicked on to become a quality Premier League player, who offers real energy and drive alongside Jack Grealish and Douglas Luiz in midfield.
In total, McGinn has made 84 appearances for Villa, scoring 11 goals and recording 16 assists in claret and blue.
The Scot reacted to his decision on Twitter, expressing that he was ‘over the moon’ to extend his stay with the side who brought him to England.
