Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Podcast that Kieran Tierney shouldn’t be handed the Arsenal captaincy yet.
It has been suggested that Arsenal should hand over the armband from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the growing figure, Tierney.
From wearing short sleeves in minus conditions to rallying his teammates in tough situations, Arsenal’s £25 million left-back (Sky Sports) is becoming a popular player in North London.
But Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit, Campbell, thinks that it’s premature to hand Tierney the captaincy now, for two reasons.
“What I will say is that I agree with you (on it being premature to hand Tierney the armband),” said Campbell.
“But let me just tell you this about Kieran Tierney. He needs to get his own game in order first before he even starts thinking of captain.
“There are certain times where his positioning isn’t right. He needs to be consistent with his fitness as well.
“What’s the point of him being captain if he’s going to be on the sidelines? We need a captain who is going to be ever-present. And Aubameyang, for most of the time, is always fit.”

Whether Tierney is handed the responsibility of becoming Arsenal captain or not, one thing is for sure, he is proving to be a leader without the armband.
And sometimes those individuals or players are as important as the man being handed that legendary title.
Either way, Arsenal have seemingly been waiting years to find that right captain to come along and if it comes in the form of Tierney then Arteta has a gem on his hands if he didn’t know that already.
