According to Le 10 Sport, there is growing optimism that the Reds will be able to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Senegal international is one of the best defenders in Europe and carries a price-tag of £89 million, despite turning 29 this summer.

Liverpool already have a certain Virgil van Dijk in central defence and it’s a frightening prospect for Premier League and European forward lines if they come up against two players of that class.
It’s also worth mentioning that Jurgen Klopp has Joe Gomez and Joel Matip as centre-back options, so the squad depth in particular position would be simply ridiculous if Director of Football Michael Edwards were to get this one over the line.
