Speaking to JOE, Danny Rose has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s current situation and the managerial market at the moment.

Rose, of course, spent a number of years at Tottenham before losing his place in the squad and being frozen out under Jose Mourinho.

As someone who has a huge affinity for Spurs, Rose wants what is best for the club, and he reckons that the north London outfit should re-hire Mauricio Pochettino if Antonio Conte does indeed end up leaving the club this summer.

Get Pochettino back

Rose urged Spurs to re-hire their former boss.

“If Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to come back, I’d be saying do everything you possibly can to get him back. You see and hear things that Conte says about being able to compete with the bigger teams, which is right, you have to spend a bit of money, but Spurs don’t do that as often as the other teams,” Rose said.

“I still believe he’s an unbelievable manager, his track record says that, and if there’s anyone who can deliver success without spending it’s Conte. I’d be over the moon if he stayed, but if he were to go I’d hope that Spurs would go out and get Mauricio again.”

Never go back

It’s often said in football that you should never go back to a former club, and we’d recommend that Pochettino heeds that warning here.

Let’s not forget, these Spurs players appeared to down tools under Pochettino, and while it is a different group of players this time around, there is still a nucleus that remains.

Pochettino may one day return to Spurs, but we’d advise the Argentine to wait until a new era is ushered in before he heads back to north London.
