Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has scored an own goal by being pictured on social media wearing a shirt of rivals Chelsea.
Rivalry between Spurs and Chelsea has ramped up over the past 12 months particularly, with the Blues beating Spurs to win the Premier League and knocking them out of the FA Cup.
N’Koudou is a close friend of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, and used Twitter to explain that it was a shirt given to him by his pal.
N’Koudou did not realise quite how badly his decision would be received, and it was both naive and foolish.
Tottenham fans reacted angrily on social media, demanding the club sell him or even terminate his contract.
Here is a look at the furious responses…
N’Koudou’s case is not caused by a terrible first season at Tottenham where he somehow managed to perform just as badly as Clinton N’Jie, the player he replaced.
He had scored prolificly for Marseille in 2015/16 but he could not impress head coach Mauricio Pochettino enough to even earn a Premier League starting berth.
He has not done himself any favours with his latest antics, and its unclear whether he will get the chance to redeem himself on the pitch.
