Raphinha joining Arsenal seems very probable this summer but Liverpool have been told to sign the Leeds United attacker.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Leeds rejected Arsenal’s first offer for the Brazil international, who Liverpool are also claimed to have bid for during the summer transfer window [Sport].

Raphinha moving to North London is definitely a possibility but Jurgen Klopp has been told to sign him by Stan Collymore.

According to Collymore, speaking to The Mirror, the South American – who cost £17 million two years ago [The Athletic] – wouldn’t progress with the Gunners as much as he would under a manager like Klopp.

Under the German boss, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah became two of Europe’s most frightening wide players.

And the former Liverpool striker believes that if Klopp can teach Raphinha the same tactical discipline, the player himself could be a massive threat and even a long-term replacement for Salah on Merseyside.

Collymore said: “My message to Liverpool is, ‘Go on, get in there and get him, and future proof for the prospect of Salah leaving in a year. With Arsenal, he would go there and carry on in the same vein as he plays at Leeds, where I don’t think he is as tactically aware as I’d like him to be, a lot of what he does is off the cuff.

“If Jurgen Klopp can show the boy how to play with more tactical discipline, the Reds will have one hell of a potential threat down the left or right with a promise of goals if he stays high up the pitch rather than drifting.”

Collymore might have a point you know.

If Liverpool genuinely are interested, it might be a better move.

Yes he might struggle for regular football initially, given that Luis Diaz and Salah will be Klopp’s first-choice wide players for next season.

But long term, there’s no telling what sort of education he could receive from the former Borussia Dortmund boss and maybe, just maybe, he’ll improve him better than what Mikel Arteta can offer right now.
