The January transfer window is fast approaching, and one player who could be on the move is Rubin Kazan midfielder Alex Song.
Sky Sports report that Russian side Rubin Kazan are facing a financial meltdown, and some players haven’t been paid for four months as a result – and one of them is Alex Song.
The midfielder is now allegedly looking to leave Rubin on a free transfer as he attempts to get out of his contract, and a return to the Premier League could be on the cards.
Formerly of Arsenal, Song’s career took a turn when he joined Barcelona in 2012, as he struggled to make an impression in Catalunya, and spent two seasons on loan with West Ham United.
Whilst Song starred in his first season with the Hammers, he struggled in his second loan spell in East London, and headed to Russia with Rubin in 2016.
Now, Song could become a free agent, and West Ham fans on Twitter have been discussing the possibility of bringing the 30-year-old back to East London in the new year.

Fans appear somewhat split on the prospect of resigning Song, with some desperate to see Song return to West Ham, urging the club to bring him back in January alongside fellow midfielder William Carvalho.
Others believe that it would be a backwards step to go for Song again after he struggled for the club two years ago, with fans keen to see younger players prioritised rather than signing ageing players like Song.
