Naismith joined Everton in 2012 from Scottish side Rangers.
Steven Naismith scored a sensational hat-trick against Premier League heavyweights Chelsea three years ago on Wednesday as Everton earned a 3-1 win at Goodison Park in September 2015 – and some Toffees want him back.
Naismith, now 31, had only come on as a substitute in the ninth minute after Bosnia & Herzegovina international Mo Besic suffered an injury. It took him just eight minutes to score, heading home from close range.
His second was a left-footed drive from 20 yards out before his third saw Ross Barkley intricately find the Scotsman’s run before nutmegging goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to score.
Naismith clocked up 123 appearances for Everton in three and a half years after joining the club from Rangers, before he opted to move to Norwich City in January 2016 for £8.5million (BBC Sport) He remains at Carrow Road.
But the former Kilmarnock attacker has rejoined Hearts for a second loan spell, where he has been in immaculate form, scoring seven goals and creating three in eight games. He has also won back his Scotland place, scoring against Albania.
Everton’s official Twitter account posted a video of Naismith putting Chelsea to the sword on September 12 three years ago, in what was surely one of Roberto Martinez’s finest moments as manager.
Some Everton fans reacted to the post, urging their club to consider bringing him back to Goodison Park despite being on the wrong side of 30, while others believe the club let him go too early.
