Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left seriously impressed with Antonio Conte’s new regime already.
Getting to work
Conte has immediately arrived at Spurs and made improving their fitness one of his top priorities.
Ketchup and mayonnaise have been banned from the canteen (Athletic), while Conte has already spoken publicly about Tottenham’s players need to improve on their physical conditions to play his ‘intense’ style of football.
Actions speak louder than words though, and Conte already has put a plan in place.
Football London claims that Tottenham’s players who have gone away with their countries for the international break have been given extra work to get through.
The Lilywhites players on international duty may have been thinking they would get a break from Conte’s relentless training sessions over the next fortnight.
But it seems that they were sorely mistaken, as the Italian wants to get his Tottenham side into shape as quickly as possible.
And Spurs fans love Conte’s demands, after an impressive start at the club.
Big impact already
Conte’s impact on Tottenham’s play has already been clear in his first two matches.
Spurs ran considerably further against Everton than they had in any game this season and also accumulated more sprints.
Although Tottenham didn’t get the three points at Goodison Park, their new intensity did at least lead to some encouraging passages of play.
Spurs also looked very impressive in a forward sense against Vitesse in their new manager’s first game in charge.
Conte’s men return to action after the international break with a game against Leeds United in two Sundays’ time.
