Quite a few Rangers fans on Twitter are sending messages to Josh Windass, telling him to come back.

The English playmaker quit the Gers almost two years ago to join Wigan Athletic.

Windass was a big player for Rangers and scored 18 goals across all competitions in his last season, form which led to the Championship club taking an interest.

But the Latics have today announced that they have entered administration and are set for a 12-point deduction, putting them bottom of the Championship with only six games left.

Things aren’t looking good for the club and there’s a lot of Rangers supporters on social media who are urging the Ibrox club to re-sign the 26-year-old.

Do the Scots need him? Well, they could definitely do with him.

As mentioned, 18 goals in his last season for Rangers is one hell of a return for a non-striker. For comparison, Ryan Kent, who cost the light Blues £7 million, scored only six during his first year in Scotland.

Windass is on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, so it remains to be seen what happens there, but if he’s made available by Wigan then maybe Steven Gerrard – who sold him for £2 million – should consider taking him back.
