Jeff Stelling has slammed talkSPORT host, Jason Cundy, for suggesting that Liverpool are ‘spiralling out of control’ after their opening Champions League defeat to Napoli on Wednesday night, as he posted on Twitter.
The Sky Sports presenter reminded people that Liverpool recently beat Bournemouth 9-0 and the claims now being made about Jurgen Klopp’s side are ‘garbage’.
Players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are being questioned because their form is worrying, whilst Stelling acknowledges that, he defended the criticism that has come the club’s way.
LIVERPOOL’S TROUBLES IN ITALY AND BEYOND
The issue for Liverpool is that their defensive performance in Naples was one of the worst they have produced under Klopp.
Jamie Carragher even felt that Joe Gomez, who was hauled off at half-time, had one of his worst games ever, but this isn’t just a case of what happened last night.
Since the start of the season – Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at newly-promoted Fulham – they have looked off the pace and a team that needs refreshing.

Klopp will have a lot of thinking to do because some big changes will need to be made if the club wants to continue their recent success for the next five years.
There were calls before the season kicked off that big changes need to be made to the midfield, well, that might be one area that is overhauled next summer.
But, for now, the only thing the Merseyside club can do is to go back into neutral and hope they can rediscover some of their old magic because that’s the only thing that will get them out of their current struggles.
