
Some Aston Villa fans have been reacting to the news that the club have banned their players from playing Fantasy Premier League.
This comes after reports emerged that there was a team news leak after supporters spotted that some Villa players had taken Jack Grealish out of their FPL team.
Grealish missed the weekend’s action with an injury, but it seems as though Villa didn’t want that news leaking before it was announced.
To be fair, this sort of information being available does give the opposition an advantage, but it didn’t take a genius to infer that Grealish may have been a doubt for this weekend.
If Villa didn’t want any hints that Grealish was missing going out, perhaps they shouldn’t have published a gallery of training pictures where Grealish was missing, a gallery that sparked mass panic amongst the fanbase.
Team news like this is always likely to get out one way or another, and while banning players from FPL can stop that from happening, it can also deal a blow to team morale and dressing room camaraderie.
We hear all the time that players like to have a laugh about FPL and it seems to be a good way for teammates to bond, but Villa have taken that away from their squad.
