Leeds United are considering returning with an improved bid for Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds are reported to have had a £6 million rejected for the Benin international earlier this week.

But after selling Chris Wood to Burnley for £15 million, the Whites should have plenty of funds with which to rest Middlesbrough’s resolve.

Gestede only moved to Boro in January from Aston Villa – at a time when Leeds director of football was overseeing recruitment at The Riverside – and has featured prominently in the early stages of the new campaign.

But after shelling out around £30 million on strikers during the off season, it is possible the Teessiders could be tempted into selling.
