Former Arsenal and AS Roma forward Gervinho has told The Scottish Sun that Celtic have a duty to protect Karamoko Dembele.

Dembele has been making the headlines in recent days for a remarkable achievement at the tender age of 13.

The teenager made his debut for the Celtic Under-20 side against their Heart of Midlothian counterparts on Monday evening.

Celtic won the match 3-1, but Dembele was making all the headlines after the game.

According to The Scottish Sun, most of Europe’s biggest clubs are tracking the progress of the talented and promising 13-year-old Celtic player.

It has also been reported that the youngster will be fast-tracked into the Scotland set-up.

Dembele qualifies for England and for the Ivory Coast, according to The Scottish Sun, but Scotland will select him for next month’s Under-16s Victory Shield games.

Former Arsenal and Roma forward Gervinho, who is now on the books of Hebei China Fortune and has scored 20 goals in 71 international matches for the Ivory Coast, believes that Celtic have a duty to protect the 13-year-old Dembele.

“Of course people are going to be excited by him,” Gervinho told The Scottish Sun. “To have represented the Under-20s, is almost unbelievable. Celtic have a duty to protect him.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 19 points from seven matches.
