Rangers could have Steven Gerrard in charge of the Ibrox club next season, but Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster looks to be heading to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

According to Sky Sports, Rangers are holding discussions with Liverpool legend Gerrard to replace Graeme Murty as the Ibrox club’s manager.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been linked with Brewster, with Herald Scotland claiming that the Hoops are close to agreeing a loan deal with Liverpool regarding 18-year-old striker Brewster for the 2018-19 campaign.

The England Under-18 international striker has yet to break into the Reds’ first team, but he is a supremely talented youngster who is going places.

Former Liverpool midfielder Gerrard, currently in charge of the club’s Under-18 side, rates Brewster highly.

Back in November 2017, the former England international and Los Angeles Galaxy told The Liverpool Echo about Brewster following his performance in the UEFA Youth League game against Sevilla in Spain: “For me, the key for Rhian Brewster today was his work rate. We all know he has got the talent and the ability.

“If Rhian wants to go far and stay at the top, if he can put in that work rate and relentless running, that’s how he’s going to get the better of most defenders. His body is built for running and that’s one of his strengths. He can’t forget that.”

Gerrard’s aforementioned comments underline just how good Brewster is and the type of striker he is, and they are certainly going to excite the Celtic fans.

Brewster would progress well playing under former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, and the Hoops would also get a very talented young striker.
