Everton defender Michael Keane has not been playing well this season.
The Liverpool legend suggested that it is not a good sign that Everton defender Keane was taken off at half time by manager Sam Allardyce against Arsenal, with a place in the England World Cup squad at stake.
Gerrard said about Keane on BT Sport 1 last Saturday evening (7:38pm, February 3, 2018): “I think he (Everton manager Sam Allardyce) is obviously not happy with Keane to take him off at half time.
“I think that’s a big concern for Keane himself who is trying to get into the World Cup squad. To get dragged off at half time is a worry.”
Worrying
Much was expected of Keane when he joined Everton from Premier League rivals Burnley in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £25 million.
The 25-year-old former Manchester United defender was superb during his spell at Burnley, but the England international is struggling at Everton at the moment and was substituted at half time against Arsenal.

However, there is still time for Keane to improve his performances and secure a place in Gareth Southgate’s England team for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia in the summer.
What Keane needs right now is for Everton manager Sam Alladyce to believe in him and to play him regularly.
