Rangers are still looking to bring new signings to Ibrox.
Rangers are busy preparing for Thursday night’s Europa League qualifying clash against Osijek, but manager Steven Gerrard still found time to take in another game on Tuesday night.
The Gers will be hoping to improve on two unconvincing displays against Macedonian side FK Shkupi, and whilst Gerrard’s men arrived in Croatia today, the Rangers boss was on a scouting mission on Tuesday.
Gerrard – alongside assistant Gary McAllister and technical coach Tom Culshaw – were spotted in the crowd as Motherwell beat Queen of the South 2-0 in the Scottish League Cup, as photographed by The Scottish Sun.
Conor Sammon scored twice to hand Motherwell the win, and many will be wondering just why Gerrard was at Fir Park, with some no doubt believing that it was transfer-related.
Motherwell had two players on show who may fit the bill as Rangers targets, with defender Cedric Kipre making sense given that Gerrard is pursuing another centre back before the transfer deadline.
The giant Ivorian, 21, has starred for Motherwell since arriving from Leicester City last summer, and his impressive performances may have sparked interest from Rangers – even if he isn’t the left-footed defender Gerrard appears to want.
Midfielder Chris Cadden is another young talent at Motherwell who may fit the bill for Rangers, providing hard work and creativity either out wide or centrally, and should be near the top of the wish list if Rangers focus on Scottish talent.
Of course, Gerrard may have been watching Motherwell in preparation to play them, but with no meeting between the two sides until late August, a transfer mission may have been the reason for Gerrard’s visit – and Kipre or Cadden would be the standout names if so.
