Rangers winger Ryan Kent is thriving under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
Rangers picked up another impressive win on Sunday, as they beat Heart of Midlothian 3-1 at Ibrox to again underline their title credentials.
The Gers raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half as Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield all found the net, before Jimmy Dunne pulled one back for Hearts.
It was another fantastic performance from winger Kent, who continued his outstanding form by causing problems throughout and grabbing the opener.
Kent’s latest impressive display came on the day that he told the Daily Record that he would be open to a permanent move in the summer, having flourished since arriving on loan from Liverpool.
The 21-year-old would allegedly cost upwards of £2million, but having spent similar on fellow winger Eros Grezda in August, that is a deal that shouldn’t deter Rangers.
In fact, Gerrard should already be asking Liverpool about a potential deal for Kent, and the winger’s comments should spark Rangers into trying to setup a deal with Liverpool before any other clubs can join the race.
A host of clubs wanted Kent on loan over the summer, and his recent form – coupled with the fee needed to sign him – may just tempt those clubs to come back in for the winger.
Gerrard’s ties to Liverpool may put him at an advantage, but Rangers shouldn’t wait around, and would be wise to use the international break to speak to Liverpool about setting up a move to sign Kent on a full-time basis in 2019.
