Rangers have been bizarrely linked with a move for Adam Lallana.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official YouTube channel that there is a ‘good chance’ Jordan Rossiter will leave on loan – but Adam Lallana and Ravel Morrison won’t be signing.
The Gers have been busy in the transfer window already, having signed Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe on loan and also landed Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones on pre-contract agreements.
Gerrard’s side have been away in Tenerife for a mini-pre-season during the winter break, and return to domestic action tomorrow night with a Scottish Cup tie against Cowdenbeath.
A host of transfer rumours surrounding Rangers remain in the news though, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
Earlier today, The Express reported that Dundee United and Fleetwood Town are both keen to take midfielder Rossiter on loan, with the ex-Liverpool man something of a misfit with just five appearances this season.
Additionally, rumours on social media have touted Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana – who played alongside Gerrard at Anfield – and Lazio’s Ravel Morrison for moves to Ibrox.
Gerrard today suggested that whilst he hasn’t heard from any teams about Rossiter, he may well go out on loan in order to play first-team football for the rest of the season – and completely shot down rumours about Lallana and Morrison.
“I can’t give you an update in terms of whether there’s any truth in that,” said Gerrard. “We haven’t heard from anyone in terms of Jordan but if you’re asking me if there would be a chance he’d go out to get games then yes, there would be a good chance, but we’ll have to just wait and see what options Jordan’s got in the next couple of weeks. We rate the player and we obviously love the kid but in this situation I’ve got two options and one’s to be selfish and keep him here to be a squad player, but the other one is to be respectful and understand that he’s desperate to play,” he added.
“There’s no truth in either,” said Gerrard when asked about potentially bringing in Lallana or Morrison.
