He never got his hands on a league title as a player, but Rangers’ Steven Gerrard finally has one as a manager.
Rangers completed their unbeaten season this afternoon by beating Aberdeen 4-0 at Ibrox.
But today was always about the post-match scenes and the Gers finally got to lift the Scottish Premiership trophy, having won it some two months ago.
Here’s how Gerrard reacted to the occasion on Instagram:
A number of verified accounts responded, including Rangers legend Charlie Adam who simply wrote ‘brilliant’ in response to the 40-year-old manager.
It’s a momentous day for everybody affiliated with the Ibrox club and you need only see the footage of scenes in Glasgow’s city centre right now to understand how much it means.
Thousands of Bears have squeezed into Georges Square to celebrate the victory.
And considering the club almost went out of business in 2012, with Rangers demoted to the basement of Scottish football, it’s been a long, long decade and this is surely one to savour.
