Glasgow Rangers are preparing for next term as Steven Gerrard and co seek to bring title number 55 to Ibrox and end their rivals’ domestic dominance.

Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has disclosed a particular pre-season decision he made which highlights just how much attention to detail and man-management skills he has brought to the Ibrox hotseat (Rangers website) as they seek Scottish league title number 55.
The Gers players are currently being put through their paces at a training camp in Portugal as they prepare for the first Europa League game in just a few weeks, and with continental competition potentially going alongside fighting on three domestic fronts, it will be crucial for each of the Light Blues.
Europe aside, there is also the pressing issue of the Scottish Premiership and Scottish and League Cups, with Rangers’ bitter Old Firm rivals having won eight league titles in a row and claimed a domestic treble in each of the last three seasons, something every Bear will be eager to see halted in 2019-20.
However, the Gers have shown considerable progress under Gerrard in his maiden season at Ibrox both on and off the pitch, and the Liverpool legend gave an interesting insight into what he’s done to ensure his players hit the ground running following their short off-season.

On the subject of building on last season’s strong finish, Gerrard told the Ibrox club’s website: “That is a positive as the amount of time we have off in the summer, it is not that long where the players will lose too much fitness. It is important they have a bit of down-time with their families and have a couple of weeks free and off their legs, but they all get individual programmes to start before they come back.
“So you try and get a head-start for day one, and they are already in decent condition. The testing we did from an aerobic point of view has come back really positive, so the players have shown a great level of professionalism there. So by the time that first qualifier comes round, we can be in the best shape possible to go and get the result we need.”
