Rangers reportedly won’t be bringing Leighton Baines to Ibrox.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Rangers aren’t planning to sign Everton defender Leighton Baines this summer despite social media rumours.
Baines, 34, is out of contract at Everton this summer, meaning he’ll be a free agent in a matter of weeks, and will be considering his next move.
The veteran left back is considering staying at Everton as cover for Lucas Digne, but he may well look to move on for one last attempt at first-team football before his retirement.
Despite that, the Liverpool Echo state that Rangers won’t be making a move for Baines, with Steven Gerrard seemingly looking elsewhere.
Rangers have issues at left back given the struggles of Borna Barisic, and Baines fits the bill in one sense having played alongside Gerrard with the England national team.

However, Rangers have plenty of veterans. Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Jermain Defoe…there’s bags of experience at Ibrox, and they made need some youth and exuberance alongside that experience to take down Celtic.
Lee Wallace’s exit means some experience may be needed, but adding a player who turns 35 later this year isn’t the type of signing Rangers need right now, meaning Gerrard is making the right decision in avoiding his former teammate.
