AS Monaco have reportedly doubled their price tag for star midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, with Liverpool and Real Madrid interested in the youngster.
According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side now value the 22-year-old at an incredible €100m (£83m), though it is likely that Monaco will accept a lower fee for the France international in what has been a breakout year for Tchouameni.
The midfielder has become one of the most exciting players in Ligue 1 as well as a regular for Les Bleus, and now some of Europe’s biggest clubs are interested in signing Tchouameni, namely Liverpool and Madrid.
The Telegraph reported this week that Los Blancos are the current favourites to land Tchouameni, with Madrid eager to bolster their midfield options as they seek long-term replacements for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Likened to Steven Gerrard with RMC Sport reporting that Liverpool are also in the race for the youngster, even France manager Didier Deschamps is a huge fan of the Tchouameni, with the Les Bleus boss hailing the midfielder as a player with ‘enormous potential’.
Indeed, Monaco’s hiking of Tchouameni’s price tag comes as a blow for Liverpool, who could now be priced out of a move for the midfielder with Madrid set to go big on the Frenchman this summer.
Tchouameni price tag update is a huge blow for Liverpool and only benefits Madrid

Liverpool would have felt confident in themselves landing Tchouameni this summer had Monaco kept to their original price tag of €50m (£41m), however, this decision seemingly only benefits Madrid given their vast wealth.
With Tchouameni seemingly now out of Liverpool’s price range, Madrid are essentially free to pursue the French superstar uncontested in what could be one of the biggest transfers of the summer window.
