Rangers are reportedly looking to bring a new striker to Ibrox in January.

Rangers have brought in 15 new signings since Steven Gerrard’s appointment as manager, but that doesn’t mean they will be quiet during the January transfer window.
One goalkeeper, four centre backs, two full backs, three midfielders, three wingers and two strikers arrived at Ibrox, and having lost only three times under Gerrard, it has been a strong start to the season.
However, The Express recently reported that Rangers want to bring in four new signings in January, and are prioritising a new striker to bolster Gerrard’s attacking options in the final third.
The reason is because summer signing Umar Sadiq has flopped since arriving on loan from Roma, and there appears to be a chance that he will be sent back to Italy in January, leaving Rangers to find another striker.
Rangers may just face a problem though. Alfredo Morelos is the clear first choice striker at Ibrox, and summer addition Kyle Lafferty is next in line following his move from Hearts, meaning it may be difficult to find a third-choice hitman.
Proven quality strikers are unlikely to want to head to Ibrox as third choice, and that may leave Gerrard with two avenues; an unproven lower league hitman with potential, or another young loanee looking for experience.

Ayr United’s goalscoring sensation Lawrence Shankland – a boyhood Rangers fan – would fit the bill perfectly, having hit 21 goals in 20 games this season, and shouldn’t break the bank for Rangers in their search of attacking reinforcements.
When it comes to a loanee, Gerrard could always go back to former club Liverpool to try and bring in Dominic Solanke or Rhian Brewster, but Rangers fans maybe shouldn’t expect to see a big-money attacking addition arrive in January.
