Dirk Kuyt has praised Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on the club’s official website and has compared him to Steven Gerrard.
The former Liverpool star is a huge fan of Alexander-Arnold and has said that the England international defender is a dream player.
The Dutchman has said that the 23-year-old’s delivery is similar to Liverpool legend Gerrard.
Gerrard is now the manager of Aston Villa.
Praise for Alexander-Arnold
Kuyt told Liverpool’s official website: “Behind him on that right-hand side is Trent Alexander-Arnold, who’s also playing at an unbelievably high level. With Salah playing a little bit inside, it gives Trent the opportunity to play higher up the pitch. He was very important again against Arsenal, not just with his two assists.
“He’s a defender playing like an attacker. But also defensively when Liverpool lose the ball, his role in the team is very important because he’s able to press so high. Defenders love defending like that.
“It’s not easy to defend like Liverpool, defending very high up the pitch, but when you press well, it’s easy – and especially with players like Trent.
“His delivery is a forward player’s dream, too. It’s Gerrard-esque. When Gerrard passed you the ball, it didn’t matter what distance, he played the ball wherever he wanted – and the same with Trent.
“It’s great to have a player like him in your team. If you’re a striker, you know you only have to put your head against the ball and it’s a goal – that’s what you want. “
World-class right-back
Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the world.
In our view, the 23-year-old is a world-class right-back.
The youngster creates chances and provides assists.
Alexander-Arnold has impressed a lot of footballing people over the years, including Gary Linker and Jamie Carragher.
The defender provided two assists against Arsenal at the weekend.
The 23-year-old no.66 has provided six assists in the Premier League and two assists in the Champions League for Liverpool so far this season.
Alexander-Arnold gave seven assists in the league last season.
The right-back has created 54 big chances in 139 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
It is really scary that Alexander-Arnold is still only 23.
Imagine how good the Liverpool star will be at his peak in four or five years’ time.
