Glasgow Rangers are reportedly planning to keep Joe Dodoo at Ibrox this summer.

Amongst the players that Rangers fans may be expecting to leave the club this summer is Joe Dodoo given that he has undoubtedly become Ibrox’s forgotten man over the past 12 months.
Signed during Mark Warburton’s tenure, Dodoo’s arrival appeared to be a major coup with the forward boasting an enormous amount of potential. Unfortunately for Rangers fans, those flashes of potential have been few and far between in the two years since he joined.

He joined Charlton Athletic on loan last summer but failed to force his way into the starting lineup during his time at The Valley – all of his five league appearances for the Addicks came from the bench – and he has only made one substitute appearance for the Light Blues since his return.
The Ibrox faithful may have expected the 22-year-old to be on his way out of the club this summer, but it appears that Steven Gerrard may want to give him a chance before making a decision on his future with Football Ghana reporting that he is set to stay with the Gers.
While Rangers fans may be wondering why Gerrard appears to be keen to keep him, the incoming Gers boss must realise that turning the forward’s fortunes around would allow him to immediately silence those who doubt that the former Liverpool captain will be a success in the Ibrox hot-seat.

Dodoo is a talented player. His best moment in a Rangers shirt came when he turned their game against Partick around back in November 2016. With less than 10 minutes to go, the Gers were a goal down before Dodoo scored twice, including one stunning volley, to help the Light Blues bag the three points. He also scored in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen later that season.
There is clearly some potential for Gerrard to work with, and if he manages to help the former Leicester City man realise that potential in the future, any doubters of Gerrard’s ability as a manager will certainly have to quieten down.
