Glasgow Rangers boss Gerrard and Ibrox midfielder Arfield are Scottish Premiership Manager and Player of the Month for April.

Glasgow Rangers have secured both Scottish Premiership individual monthly awards for April with Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard and Gers midfielder Scott Arfield named Manager of the Month and Player of the Month respectively.
It is a particularly noteworthy occasion as it is the first time a Rangers boss has claimed the prize since the club was promoted back to the top flight in 2016 and comes after the Light Blues made it four wins from four matches in the league last month.
The Glasgow club kicked off the month with a 3-0 thrashing of Hearts at Ibrox, followed up with another 3-0 victory, this time at Motherwell, and went on to add another defeat of the Jambos – 3-1 at Tynecastle – and a 2-0 home win over Aberdeen last weekend.
Arfield was instrumental during April’s impressive streak, scoring four times in the month, including a hat-trick in the hammering of Motherwell, and he becomes the first Rangers man to take the Player of the Month award this season.
Although Rangers appear unlikely to overhaul their Old Firm rivals for the title at this stage of the season, the double accolade is testament to the progress made at the club over the course of the campaign certainly bodes well for 2019-20.
