Rangers have brought in Ross Wilson as director of football.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told The Herald that he has held ‘very exciting’ talks with Ross Wilson about the future of the club.
The Gers have been seeking a new director of football in recent weeks, having surprisingly seen Mark Allen leave the club last month.
Allen’s two-year stay at Ibrox came to an abrupt end after the summer transfer window, and Rangers had to move quickly to find a replacement ahead of the January window.
Unsurprisingly, Southampton’s director of football operations Wilson was the top choice, as he actually turned the job down in 2017, which resulted in the move for Allen.
It’s second time lucky for Rangers though, as Wilson has now accepted the job and was confirmed as Rangers’ new director of football earlier this week.
Now, Gerrard has admitted that he’s looking forward to getting to know the Scot, and has already held ‘very exciting ‘ talks with him about the future of the club, which will give fans hope of some big moves in the coming months.

Gerrard did though add that he has really felt Allen’s departure, missing having his influence given how close their relationship was, and he’s hoping Wilson can come in and fill that void.
“I’m looking forward to finding out about him. He’s not someone I know really well, I’ve not met him before. Obviously I’ve had some really detailed conversations of late,” said Gerrard. “But before his name was mentioned I wasn’t aware of Ross Wilson so I’m looking forward to building a relationship. The initial chats I’ve had have been very exciting in terms of what he’s going to try and do and how he’s going to help.
“I’m really looking forward to it because I feel as if there’s been a void, because I’ve been used to Mark being there and the relationship being so close. When Mark left I think I felt it a bit, I think everyone around the place as felt it. So it’ll be nice to fill the void with someone who’s quality at the job. He comes with a big reputation and I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to add,” he added.
