The USA being one of the main hosts of the 2026 World Cup has given many countries’ fans a chance to experience American cuisine this summer.
World Cup visitors have become especially obsessed with ranch dressing, leading to the TSA warning travellers not to pack the condiment in their carry-on bags when flying out of the USA.
Now, German soccer fan Fiago has revealed that he did not expect the food in America to be ‘this good’.

Germany played the USMNT in a friendly match shortly before the World Cup kicked off earlier this month.
Fiago made the trip to Soldier Field, Chicago, for that game, and has now shared that he visited Portillo’s while in the US, adding that he had ‘the best hot dog’ of his life from the restaurant.
He also mentioned how he was ‘blown away’ by the Cake Shake and will have plenty more things to check out when he travels to New York next week.
Speaking to Fox’s ‘The Bottom Line’, Fiago said: “I did not expect the kitchen, the food in the US to be this good. I mean, we went to Portillo’s, I think that’s the picture here, that was the best hot dog I’ve had in my life, and they had stuff that we’ve never seen in Europe.
“The Cake Shake, I don’t know if you’ve seen that before, I was blown away by that, the Chicago deep-dish pizza, and I’ve got a lot more stuff to check out in New York next week.”
Germany’s World Cup campaign will continue for at least one more match, with their fans now having the chance to visit Boston for their Round of 32 tie against Paraguay on June 29.
Should they win that game, they will travel to the Philadelphia Stadium for a Round of 16 game on July 4.
