Norwich City are said to want Leistner for £3.1 million, but Union are seemingly reluctant to sell.

Norwich City are being linked with a move for Union Berlin defender Toni Leistner.

Berliner Kurier reports that Norwich want Leistner for €3.5 million [£3.1 million] – but adds that would-be buyers have been warned by Union bosses they are not considering selling any of their players.

Nevertheless, with Leistner’s contract expiring at the end of the coming campaign, it is claimed the 2. Bundesliga side could be left with little option but to move on the 26-year-old.

Norwich have released Ryan Bennett, Sebastien Bassong and Michael Turner this summer, leaving them with a centre-back void which has only partially been filled by Christoph Zimmerman, the former Borussia Dortmund II player, so far.

Another towering German, Leistner started 30 of Union’s 34 league matches last term, as Jens Keller’s side finished third in the standings.

Keller was himself linked with Norwich this summer, before the Canaries turned to his compatriot Daniel Farke.

Leistner signed for Union from Dynamo Dresden in 2014 and has appeared on 89 occasions for the capital club.
