David Ornstein broke the news about Arsenal wanting Julian Brandt last week.
With January on the horizon, the Gunners are in the market for some creative attacking players to supply the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
And it looks like the Borussia Dortmund attacker is on the agenda for Arsenal.
That has now been confirmed by German football journalist Christian Falk, who revealed to Bild that the 24-year-old is ‘tempted’ by a move to London and also claimed that players inside Mikel Arteta’s dressing room are already discussing the idea of having Brandt as a team-mate.
Falk said to Bild: “We know that the scouts have already made important moves and the club is also actively discussing it in the dressing room. We also know he has connections, youth director Per Mertesacker has the same agents as him, and he is a bit tempted to come to London. I could very well imagine it coming true.”
The Germany international isn’t having a great time of it at Signal Iduna Park right now, starting only six Bundesliga games.
Most of his league appearances this season have come as a substitute and it’s no surprise to see him linked away.
Then again, this is a young and clearly talented player and any money that Arsenal have in January has to be spent extremely intelligently.
Sitting 13th in the Premier League table, the North Londoners need instant improvement and if there’s a shred of doubt that Brandt wouldn’t provide that then this has to be given a wide berth.
