A German football journalist has claimed that Sami Khedira has an interest in joining Tottenham Hotspur this winter.

The former Real Madrid midfielder played under Spurs boss Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.

Everton have been heavily linked with a move for the out-of-favour Juventus star.

But according to Christian Falk of Bild, the 33-year-old is in England and would like to speak to officials at Tottenham about a move to North London.

A move away from Turin looks fairly certain at this point, but a switch to Spurs doesn’t make much sense.

That’s because despite being a World Cup winner, Khedira isn’t going to play ahead of Tanguy Ndombele or Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

And if first-team, regular football is on his list of priorities then surely a move to Mourinho’s side makes little to no sense here.

Then again, Mourinho might fancy a reunion.

After all, we’re talking about a player who has won seven league titles across three different countries and with Tottenham without a trophy since 2008, his experience on the pitch and off of it could be invaluable.
