When you look at how well Liverpool have done this season, you could argue that their squad is near perfect and they don’t need any reinforcements.
Jurgen Klopp prefers to stick with the same starting line-up for most of his games and the Reds’ first XI is already as good as any in the Premier League, and possibly in Europe.
However, an injury or suspension to any one of their famed front three will put them in a bit of trouble. Divock Origi, a Liverpool legend according to Klopp, will have to step in but, despite his previous heroics, he isn’t reliable enough for a side aiming to win the league again.
As a result, Liverpool have been linked with quite a few attackers. The Reds’ priority signing if reports are to be believed is Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara but he isn’t the only Bundesliga player they are interested in.
Fussballeck reported in May that Liverpool are interested in signing Freiburg’s Luca Waldschmidt this summer. The 24-year-old has had an impressive season in Germany, having scored eight times in 24 appearances.
Waldschmidt, a full German international, would be an interesting signing for Liverpool this summer and, despite Freiburg’s Sporting Director Jochen Saier’s insistence that he wants to keep him, (Heidelberg24) it might not be the case.

Freiburg might just have admitted defeat in their pursuit of keeping hold of him. The Germans announced today that they have completed the signing of Ermedin Demirovic from Deportivo Alaves.
The Bosnian is now Freiburg’s fifth available striker, which is just too many. Demirovic might be Waldschmidt’s replacement which gives Liverpool a big boost in his pursuit.
The German would suit Klopp’s system very well. Waldschmidt can play the Roberto Firmino role as well as take over from Mo Salah on the right wing when required.
Still only 24, the versatile attacker has a lot of time to improve and, under Klopp, he could become a very important player for Liverpool if he arrived.
