Gerard Lopez comments on reported Tottenham, Wolves January target Nicolas Pepe

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly wanted Lille’s Nicolas Pepe in the January transfer window.

Lille owner Gerard Lopez has suggested that Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay at least €50 million (£43.2m) to sign Nicolas Pepe in the summer of 2019, as quoted on Goal.com.

According to Le10 Sport, Wolves wanted to sign Pepe from Lille in the January transfer window.

The Times claimed of interest from Tottenham in securing the services of the 23-year-old Ivory Coast international in January.

The former Angers winger did not leave Lille, and the French club’s owner has now suggested how much the winger will cost in the summer of 2019.

Lopez has also suggested that there are clubs in England who are interested in Pepe.

Goal.com quotes Lopez as saying about Pepe: “[Pepe’s future] does not just depend on the club. It also depends on the player. He deserves to play at the highest level. We have offers, yes.

“There are clubs in England. We have had offers worth €50 million (£43.2m). We will not sell for less, we have even refused a €50 million bid.”

Pepe is a very good winger who can only improve and develop in the coming years, given that he is only 23 years of age.

The winger has made 27 appearances in Ligue 1 for Lille so far this season, scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
