The Toffees had won just one of their previous eight games heading into Sunday’s clash, but opponents Manchester United had claimed just one win in their prior seven fixtures too.

It was a predictably tight affair at Goodison Park, and whilst Everton will feel that United defender Marcos Rojo should have been sent off after a horrible lunge on Idrissa Gueye, Jose Mourinho’s side did take a first-half lead.
Anthony Martial’s long ball over the top brought Maarten Stekelenburg out of his goal, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic beat the Dutchman to the ball, lofting it over him to score via the crossbar and the post.

United looked like they were going to hold out for a win, but again came unstuck late on as former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini gave away a late penalty for a trip on Gueye, with Leighton Baines converting the spot kick.
Mourinho will feel unlucky to have only taken a point, but Everton showed great character to come from behind to pick up a point – something they didn’t show at Southampton a week earlier.

Now, Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu – who came on as a 65th minute substitute or Tom Cleverley during Sunday’s clash – has taken to Twitter to send a message to fans following the game.
The Spaniard admitted that it was a difficult game against United, but was happy with the fight to come from behind and pick up a point at Goodison Park.
