Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu is a former Everton player.
Deulofeu enjoyed a good loan spell at Everton from Barcelona during the 2013-14 season.
The 24-year-old forward returned to the Toffees in the summer of 2015 on a permanent contract from Barcelona for a transfer fee reported by The Telegraph to be worth £4.2 million.
The Spain international, though, struggled to make an impact during his second spell at Everton, and after a loan spell at AC Milan in 2017, moved back to Barcelona in the summer of 2017.
Now at Watford, who will face Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Monday evening, has suggested that he had to eave the Toffees after not getting chances under then manager Koeman.
Deulofeu told The Liverpool Echo when asked if Koeman explained his decision not to play him: “No, no, no. I don’t understand, I don’t understand.
“That was why I left because if I understand why I am playing, because of that, that, that, then I try to change but I don’t understand how a player like me can be out of the squad in Everton and, after, Milan want to sign me. I don’t understand this. I went to Milan and I showed what I am.”
Watford move
Deulofeu joined Watford on a permanent contract from Barcelona in the summer of 2018 after spending the second half of last season on loan at the Hornets.
The 24-year-old Spain international forward has made six starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Watford so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
